NorthStandard works to reduce survey burden on ships through RightShip collaboration

Vessels are regularly required to undergo inspections from multiple parties with similar scopes.
Through our collaboration with RightShip, trusted, high-quality inspection information can be shared securely and used more effectively, helping reduce duplication, improve efficiency, ease pressure on crews during busy port calls and reduce unnecessary survey-related costs for Members and the Club.
How the collaboration works
With Members’ consent, NorthStandard can securely request existing RightShip inspection reports through RightShip’s report-sharing capability. Because RightShip inspections are similar in scope to Club condition surveys, this approach can reduce the need for a separate Club survey while maintaining our focus on safety, quality and risk insight.

Member benefits
- Fewer repeat inspections where suitable RightShip reports can be shared and used.
- Less disruption for crews, particularly during busy port calls.
- A more efficient vessel assurance process, supported by trusted inspection information.
- Reduced unnecessary survey-related time and cost.
- Continued access to practical loss prevention insight focused on safety, quality and operational risk.
Developed with Member input
The report-sharing approach was developed with input from NorthStandard member Orion Reederei. Their participation helped test the operating model and demonstrate how existing inspection information can be reused to reduce unnecessary burden. We greatly appreciate their support.
This collaboration reinforces NorthStandard’s commitment to practical, collaborative solutionsthat support Members’ operations and help deliver more efficient vessel assurance.
