Radio Holland Introduces the GTT Marine DM100 VDR G3

Next-Generation Voyage Data Recording for Safer, Smarter Shipping

Radio Holland introduces the GTT Marine DM100 VDR G3 by Danelec, the latest generation Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) designed to support shipowners and operators, improve reliability, support compliance and prepare for connected vessel operations.

Building on more than two decades of VDR expertise, the DM100 VDR G3 has been developed to address the increasing complexity of modern vessel operations and the growing volume of data generated by bridge, navigation and engine systems. The platform combines enhanced robustness with advanced diagnostics and cloud-ready functionality, providing a future-ready solution for the global maritime industry.

Designed for Reliability and Compliance

As Voyage Data Recorders continue to play a critical role in maritime safety and regulatory compliance, vessel operators require solutions that deliver dependable performance throughout the vessel lifecycle. The DM100 VDR G3 features a redesigned internal architecture intended to reduce single points of failure, while expanded battery capacity, new microphone options and an upgraded Bridge Control Panel contribute to improved system resilience and operational uptime.

The system also incorporates automated self-testing and built-in diagnostic capabilities to support compliance management and facilitate proactive maintenance, helping crews and technical departments identify potential issues before they impact operations

In addition, the DM100 VDR G3 has been developed with a strong focus on cyber security. The platform aligns with key maritime cyber-safety standards, including IACS UR E27 and IEC 61162-460 Edition 3.0, and is supported by DNV E27 type approval. Built on security-by-design and security-by-default principles, the system incorporates encrypted data communications, role-based access control, secure bridge network protection and long-term firmware security support through 2040. These capabilities help vessel operators address emerging cyber security requirements and prepare for future regulatory developments such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

Prepared for the Digital Future

Modern ships increasingly rely on high-bandwidth data sources and integrated digital systems. To support these developments, the DM100 VDR G3 introduces an advanced Data Acquisition Unit and a modular storage architecture capable of accommodating increasing data volumes from applications such as S-100 ECDIS overlays, 4K radar systems and continuous multi-sensor data streams.

The platform is also designed to integrate with Danelec Safety Insights and the Danelec Service App, providing additional visibility into system health and supporting more efficient troubleshooting processes.

Enabling Connected Maritime Operations

A key innovation within the DM100 VDR G3 platform is its cloud-ready connectivity. Through integration with the Danelec Vessel Remote Server (VRS), operators gain access to remote diagnostics, proactive maintenance planning, remote Operational Performance Testing (OPT) and secure shore-based access to recorded VDR data. The solution supports access to up to 30 days of recorded data, enabling improved support and fleet-wide oversight.

These capabilities align with the industry’s ongoing digital transformation, where data accessibility, transparency and remote support are becoming increasingly important elements of safe and efficient vessel operations.

Suitable for a Wide Range of Vessel Types

The DM100 VDR G3 has been engineered to accommodate a broad spectrum of vessel applications, from cruise vessels with complex bridge configurations and fibre-optic infrastructure to offshore, commercial and naval vessels operating in demanding environments. According to Danelec, the platform benefits from decades of operational experience and insights gained through the integration of the MacGregor VDR business, combining proven technology with modern digital capabilities.
