Panos Evripidou Foundation
The mission of the Panos Evripidou Foundation is to improve the quality of life of children who were born prematurely, were hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (N.I.C.U.), and who continue to fight to overcome the challenges caused by their early birth.
As a non-profit organization, our Foundation strives to turn every contribution into a small miracle — to “put a smile into a soul” — offering hope for a brighter and better future.
Our primary goal is to support and assist parents and families of premature children by providing them with useful information and resources through our website, www.panosfoundation.org. By keeping parents informed, we help them be better prepared to face and understand their children’s unique circumstances.
At the same time, we aim to provide financial assistance wherever possible or necessary, to improve the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the children themselves.
To date, our Foundation has supported 230 children, many of whom face serious health challenges. We continue to assist them today, having provided over €420,000 toward their therapies.
Period covered: 2014 – September 2025
Panos’ Story
The idea to establish the Panos Evripidou Foundation was born out of our own personal experience as parents of premature children. Our three sons — Christian, Angelos, and Panos — were born prematurely 27 weeks.
Sadly, we lost Christian just two days after his birth. Angelos came home after eight weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Makarios Hospital. However, it was the journey of our third son, Panos, that became the true inspiration for the creation of the Foundation.
Panos was the smallest of the three, weighing only 600 grams, and spent all 14 months of his short life in the loving care of the doctors and nursing staff of Makarios Hospital’s N.I.C.U. He never had the chance to come home, yet he became the first baby in Cyprus to celebrate his first birthday inside the Unit.
Although he was a great fighter and bravely overcame many battles for his life, on August 1st, 2012, Panos passed away to join his brother Christian.
During Panos’ time in the hospital, we learned to live each day as it came — to expect the unexpected and to believe in miracles.
This experience inspired us, as parents, to create the Panos Evripidou Foundation in his memory — to help other families who are going through similar experiences, and to keep Panos’ spirit alive through acts of love, compassion, and hope.
