Brunvoll propulsion and maneuvering package for FSV’s new stun and bleed vessel

Brunvoll has secured a contract with Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted AS for the delivery of a propulsion and maneuvering package for a stun and bleed vessel. FSV’s new vessel is designed in corporation between Sirius Design & Integration and Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted AS, which also are building the vessel.

The 50-meter-long stun and bleed vessel will be fitted with a twin-screw configuration, featuring controllable pitch shaft lines propellers and reduction gears with electrical motors for propulsion. The vessel will also be equipped with two tunnel thrusters, one forward and one aft, for maneuvering. FSV Group chose the twin-screw configuration in combination with the two tunnel thrusters to meet the operational requirements of the vessel. The vessel is designed to operate in shallow waters with strong currents and is based on the Aurora series developed by Sirius Design & Integration (Sirius DI) and Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted (FMV). The vessel will also be constructed by FMV in Fitjar, Norway.

“We chose Brunvoll for this vessel because they have proven their ability to deliver top-of- the-range products along with a large global service network. This is a new market for us, and we will also be operating the vessel globally. An added bonus for us is that Brunvoll develops and produces these world-class products in our neighbourhood”, says Arild Aasmyr, CEO at FSV Group.
