Valenciaport plans a vehicle silo on South Quay 2 of the Port of Sagunt

  • The Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has put out to tender the drafting of the project for the construction of a vehicle silo in the South Quay 2 of the Port of Sagunt
  • The vehicle silo will increase storage capacity at the corresponding terminal and will also be equipped with a photovoltaic installation on the roof, a ground floor and four upper floors.

Valenciaport is planning the construction of a vehicle silo in the Muelle Sur 2 area of the Port of Sagunto. The project responds to the growing demand for surface area in the area, specifically the demand for the temporary storage of vehicles derived mainly from automobile traffic. The objective of this new action is to draw up the design of a silo that will increase the storage capacity of vehicles in the corresponding terminal.

The vehicle silo will be equipped with a photovoltaic installation on the roof, which will allow the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) to continue with its objective of being an emission-neutral port by 2030. The design of the silo for Muelle Sur 2 of the Port of Sagunto will also have a ground floor and 4 storeys in height, which will guarantee the terminal’s capacity to carry out the required work, as well as facilitating access to the terminal and the use of vehicle transport services.

The projected silo will be located in the South Quay 2 of the Port of Sagunto and has a budget of 114,950.00 euros and the execution period is 6 months. Interested companies can apply until 18 September 2023, until 13:00 hours.

Goal: zero emissions by 2030

This action, like the rest of the projects budgeted for this year, follows the strategy of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) to become an emission neutral port by 2030. Among the APV’s initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint, the commitment to renewable energies, the use of clean fuels such as hydrogen, the commitment to rail, the electrification of Valenciaport’s internal network, photovoltaic plants, as well as the emphasis on energy efficiency and digitalisation stand out.
