During her visit to Athens, the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President, Mrs Marina Hadjimanolis, hosted a dinner for Greek shipowners on Tuesday 2 May, expressing the appreciation and gratitude of the Republic of Cyprus for their long-standing support to the Register of Cyprus Ships and the Cyprus shipping industry in general. In her speech, Mrs. Hadjimanolis presented the vision as well as the objectives and priorities set by the Shipping Deputy Ministry following the assumption of her duties, while noting the firm commitment of the new Government and the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides to further develop and strengthen the sector and to shield the competitiveness of European shipping.
At the same time, the Shipping Deputy Minister, accompanied by executives and officials of the Deputy Ministry and the Maritime Office in Piraeus, held meetings with shipping companies as part of the continuous information and consultation with the shipping community. Ms. Hadjimanolis presented the advantages of Cyprus Shipping in general and in particular the framework for the registration of ships in the Register of Cyprus Ships, aiming to strengthen cooperation and combined actions for a sustainable shipping industry.
On Thursday 4 May, the Shipping Deputy Minister inaugurated the new premises of the Mediterranean Maritime Training Centre at a special event held in Athens. Addressing company executives and students, Mrs Hadjimanolis underlined the importance that the Shipping Deputy Ministry attaches to maritime education, supporting and promoting specific actions for the maritime and shipping professions in general
