Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Balmoral is the first of the fleet’s three ships to set sail on a 2023 grand voyage and has arrived in Bermuda after leaving Portsmouth on 5^thJanuary for a 78-night ‘Exploration of South America and the Antarctic’ cruise.

During the circumnavigation of South America, Balmoral will be calling in to destinations including Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil and for the first time in Fred. Olsen’s history, the Antarctic.

Guests will have the chance to learn to dance in Buenos Aires, the birthplace of the Tango, or spend time with a Gaucho cowboy on ranches in Argentina and Uruguay and on the call into Port Stanley, will be joined by war veteran Simon Weston MBE, where he will share his experience of time in the Falklands.

Next month, Borealis will set sail on an ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ cruise, with chances to sail from either Liverpool or Southampton, which will follow as closely as possible in the footsteps of fictional explorer Phileas Fogg. This includes opportunities to see Japan’s cherry blossoms in full bloom or visit the tomb of Tutankhamun on the 100^th anniversary of it’s opening.

Those wishing to experience part of the epic adventure can join one of two shorter sailings, with a 26-night sailing from Southampton to Singapore where guests can cruise the world-famous Suez Canal and visit the Elephanta Caves in the bustling city of Mumbai or the 53-night sailing from Singapore to Southampton, with chances to enjoy authentic farmers’ markets in Hawaii, the street food and architecture of Hong Kong and Japan’s Samurai heritage at Fukuoka and Osaka Castle.

In November, Bolette will set sail on a 93-night ‘The Intrepid Beauty of Africa and the Indian Ocean’ cruise, offering chances to spend four days in Cape Town, South Africa, visit Goan spice and tea plantations in India or climb the sand dunes of the world’s oldest desert Namib.
