The Maritime Industry Authority’s  long-term development plans for training and research will soon be powered by simulation technology and virtual reality capabilities of Seaversity.

Seaversity is a technology company that offers maritime education and training institutions with gamified learning experiences through augmented and virtual reality programs.

In a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the two groups, it is stated that Marina and Seaversity will collaborate on the competency development framework under the Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) through the application of simulation technology.

This is after acknowledging that securing and preserving highly qualified human resources can only be feasible through effective and quality maritime education and training (MET).

The cooperation between Marina and Seaversity includes the development of organizational culture and practice of leading maritime education, innovation, technology, and sustainability anchored on Ambisyon Natin 2040, Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, other national development plans, and international conventions.

Another collaboration is the development of MARINA’s Learning Management System (LMS) for the capacity building of Marina staff and key stakeholders in knowledge management, information management, and communication, with consultation and advice concerning technical and operational aspects of the said service

Seaversity will likewise help strengthen the national research and development capacity for innovation and learning of Marina.

Further, the technology company will be engaged in the validation and pilot testing of Immersive (VR and AR and Maritime Educational Technologies, with consultation and advice concerning its technical and operational aspects.
