The Cyprus Shipping Chamber represented the Cyprus Shipping Industry in International Maritime Assembly

Themis Papadopoulos President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and Vice-President of the International Chamber of Shipping and Thomas Kazakos, Director General of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber

The International Chamber of Shipping, which represents national shipowners’ associations on a global basis, held a meeting of its Board of Directors, on February 8, 2022, in London, at which the President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, also having the capacity of Vice-President of the International Chamber of Shipping, Mr. Themis Papadopoulos, and the Director General, Mr. Thomas A. Kazakos, represented the Cyprus Shipping Industry.

At the heart of the meeting were the current developments in maritime policy issues and ways of sustainable implementation of the environmental regulations of the European Union and the International Maritime Organization by international shipping, aiming at its green transformation. In addition, the challenges faced by shipping due to the pandemic were discussed, such as the ongoing difficulties in ship crew changes around the world and the future strategy of the International Chamber of Shipping for the further enhancement and development of shipping at an international level.
