Van Oord introduces storytelling platform on a flood-resistant Netherlands during Expo 2020 Dubai

During the National Day of Expo 2020 in Dubai, Van Oord will launch the digital platform ‘The Dyke, social impact stories of a Dutch icon’. In 2019, Van Oord was the first National Partner of the Dutch pavilion and the company aims to bring Dutch marine engineering solutions to international attention. The launch of the trailer of ‘The Dyke, social impact stories of a Dutch icon’ is the start of a story series about the future of a flood-resistant Netherlands.

Our participation as a National Partner of the Dutch pavilion at Expo 2020 allows us to demonstrate and share our knowledge and expertise in the field of marine engineering and energy infrastructure. Central to the platform is the social impact of maritime projects. With the launch of The Dyke, themes such as climate change, ecology, water safety and economic importance are addressed through personal stories and reports.
— Robert de Bruin, Director Corporate Affairs

The Dyke, social impact stories of a Dutch icon, is a multimedia project made by photographer Cynthia Boll and journalist Stephanie Bakker in cooperation with Van Oord. In six personal stories, The Dyke sketches a portrait of a country in transition, how the Dutch move with it and the role of the Afsluitdijk in this transition. The storytelling platform will be launched in December 2021.
