Swedish travel technology platform Sembo secured a $12m investment from its parent company Stena Line

As the travel industry continues to rebound, the Swedish travel technology platform Sembo has just secured a $12m investment from its parent company Stena Line. Sembo is now embarking on an ambitious expansion plan. The funds are to be used to support the recruitment some of the sharpest software developers available to fast-forward the first phase of the company’s international expansion.

With the vast majority of travelers now planning and booking their holidays online, Sembo has created their own unique and data driven booking technology, aiming to disrupt the full process of how package holidays are produced, booked, marketed and distributed in the future.

Sembo has always sought to simplifying travel by combining powerful technology with great individual service, the development of the new booking platform is a milestone – not only for the company, but for the travel industry as a whole.

“This is yet another bold step by our owner to be an active part in the transformation of the transport & travel industry. We will now build a travel ecosystem that is set to revolutionize the travel & tourism industry by giving everyone access to what will probably be the most powerful holiday planning & distribution tool in the world. To create a tour around the world will be done as fast and seamlessly as creating a Spotify playlist in the near future”, says Jari Virtanen, Managing Director Stena Line Travel & Retail Group.
