Pertamina becomes the First State-Owned Enterprise to declare Zero Harassment Commitment

PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to encourage work productivity, company targets, and achievements by ensuring safety, comfort, and a cooperative work climate for Pertamina Workers and partners throughout the Pertamina Group. One of them is, affirming Zero Harassment’s commitment to ensure a work environment free from discrimination, violence, and harassment.

The Declaration of Commitment to Zero Harassment was confirmed by launching the Respectful Workplace Policy on August 31, 2021. This policy serves as a guideline for the management and employees of the Pertamina Group at all levels of holding, subholding, and subsidiary companies.

Pertamina’s high commitment to Zero Harassment is in line with the aspirations of the global community in implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and realizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will ensure the company’s sustainability.

Of the 7 Pertamina’s SDGs priorities, Zero Harassment’s commitment is related to SDGs point 5, namely achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. Another is related to point 8, supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. In addition, Zero Harassment is also following AKHLAK values, namely harmony, which means that there are no differences in ethnicity, religion, age, gender, or position.

President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, said Zero Harassment had become a joint commitment from all levels of Pertamina’s Executive Board. Therefore, all internal and external parties can see that Pertamina’s top management has the same commitment to a respectful workplace.

“We hope that with this commitment, the socialization that is carried out, and reminders that we continue to do, there will be no more discrimination, harassment, and violence in our environment,” said Nicke.

In addition to regulations to prevent discrimination and harassment, Pertamina has also provided programs to increase awareness to prevent discrimination, violence, and harassment. In addition to protecting the victims, Pertamina also provides consultation and counseling services as the company’s seriousness.

“I urge, I ask, I instruct all levels and workers if they experience or see discrimination, violence, and harassment, they must report it,” said Nicke.

Several reporting channels have been opened, including through superiors, Human Capital, Email respect@pertamina.com, and the Whistle Blowing System procedure, namely email pertaminaclean@tipoffs.com.sg. The report will be followed up, and if proven, there will be strict sanctions following applicable regulations, with a maximum sanction in the form of Termination of Employment (PHK).

“Let us fight for Zero Harassment and create a safe, conducive, and inclusive work environment to support productivity and achieve company targets in the future,” concluded Nicke.
