Hill Dickinson consolidates its position at centre of Hong Kong dispute resolution

Recognising Hill Dickinson’s capability and expertise in arbitration as a form of dispute resolution, the firm’s Edward Liu has been reappointed to Hong Kong’s Advisory Committee on Promotion of Arbitration. His new three-year term of office extends to 2024.

The Committee advises and assists Hong Kong’s Department of Justice in the promotion of arbitration in Hong Kong. Inviting him to be reappointed, Ms Teresa Cheng, SC, Secretary for Justice praised Mr Liu’s “expertise and experience in the legal and arbitration sector” and the “valuable inputs” he has been providing to the work of the Advisory Committee. She expressed her confidence that he “will  continue to contribute useful advice on the initiatives and strategies needed to successfully promote HKSAR’s arbitration services” as well as reflecting the views of stakeholders to the committee.

Edward Liu is also a member of Hong Kong’s Steering Committee on Mediation, one of only two members who are currently serving in both these significant legal advisory bodies to the Hong Kong Government.

Well-known for its solid legal framework, Hong Kong is a major Asia-Pacific hub for dispute resolution services, capitalising on its fair, transparent and independent legal system.

Edward Liu is due to be a speaker at the forthcoming Why Arbitrate in Hong Kong webinar, organised by the Hong Kong Government, which takes place 4pm to 7pm (GMT+8) on Wednesday March 31st. Registration is free here: https://aail.org/2021-why-arbitrate-in-hk
