More than 250 cruise ships and 400,000 passengers served since 2017 while over 3,500 commercial vessels and three million tonnes of cargo processed by the Company

DP World Limassol is celebrating four hugely successful years as the proud operator of the multi-purpose and cruise terminals at Limassol port, and has pledged to continue investing and growing its services over the next two decades, to establish it as a key port of choice in the Eastern Mediterranean.

In the first four years of its 25-year concession agreement with the Republic of Cyprus, which marked the commercialization of the Limassol port, the Company has recorded impressive results, leading to a considerable increase in government revenue from the port’s operations.

Overall, the firm has served more than 250 cruise ships and processed the arrival of over 400 thousand passengers in the past four years. In addition to this, in the transit trade arm of the business, the Company processed a total of over 3,500 commercial vessels and over 3 million tonnes of cargo.

Commenting on the occasion of the anniversary, the Company’s CEO, Nawaf Abdulla, said: “DP World Limassol has produced impeccable results over the past four years. We are proud to have been chosen to operate this crucial port for the region and we strive every day to become the best we can be.” “Despite the difficulties of the past 12 months”, he added, “we remain dedicated to our goal of making the Limassol port a leading port of choice for trade and cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean”.

Mr. Abdulla added that by undertaking a series of targeted investments, as part of DP World Limassol’s long-term investment plan, the Company has successfully prepared the Limassol port to pursue a more central role in the region, allowing it to thrive for years to come.

Significant investment in equipment and technology has enhanced the port’s efficiency and competitiveness, allowing it to accommodate more vessels and reduce turnaround times, while successfully laying the foundation for its role in actively supporting the exploration of energy reserves off the coast of Cyprus and its neighbouring countries. DP World Limassol has also made a considerable investment in machinery with the purchase of multiple cranes, container handlers, forklifts, tractors as well as other essential equipment, which successfully increased the port’s automation and resilience.

As a modern global business at the forefront of logistics and smart trade, DP World is committed to investing in digital solutions that increase efficiency and offer tangible benefits to its staff and customers. This strategy is also reflected in Limassol, where the firm has launched several innovative digital products, including digital payment solutions, while ensuring it keeps up with the latest international procedural standards.

DP World Limassol is committed to continue to invest in the development of its various facilities providing specialized environment suitable to various business sectors.
