The panelists will discuss updates to The Guidelines on Cyber Security Onboard Ships (Version 4), which was released on December 23, 2020. As these guidelines are widely referenced across the shipping industry, please join us for insights on how the guidelines continue to evolve and how organizations can best leverage them as part of their cyber risk management activities.

About the Speakers

Jakob Larsen, Head of Maritime Safety & Security, BIMCO

Jakob P. Larsen is the Head of Maritime Safety & Security at BIMCO – the World’s largest association of shipowners with more than 2,100 members globally. Within the scope of his team are all matters related to maritime safety and security, including cyber security. Jakob has a diverse background as warfare officer in the Danish Navy and as Global Security and Marine Quality Manager in shipowner companies including container giant Maersk.

Makiko Tani, Deputy Manager Cyber Security Team, ClassNK

Makiko Tani has engaged in activities related to class and statutory rules experiencing several positions at ClassNK, the world’s leading classification society based in Tokyo. Backed by her expertise, she was assigned to the ClassNK Cyber Security team in 2018 and contributed to the development of the ClassNK Cyber Security Approach and set of guidelines. She is currently in charge of carrying out audits related to cyber security and further elaborating the guidelines, as well as awareness-raising activities for ClassNK’s clients.

Jesper Studsgaard, ICS Cyber Security Lead, Maersk

Jesper Studsgaard, ICS Cyber Security Lead at Maersk, is responsible for OT cyber security activities on Maersk container vessels, working out of their HQ in Copenhagen. Jesper holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering and he is an ethical hacker. Jesper has contributed to the latest two releases of the guidelines.
