Fleet Management continues its search for the missing seafarer


Fleet Management Limited, the manager of the oil tanker, New Horizon (318226 dwt, 2012 built) regret to report that on 13th September 2020, a much-valued seafarer was reported missing when he failed to report for duty. He was last seen at approximately 1545 LT 13th September. A subsequent full search of the vessel proceeded. Having not located the crew member, the vessel was turned around on a reciprocal course to perform search and rescue operations in close coordination with Mauritius Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in hope of finding the missing seafarer. Four ships in the vicinity also assisted with the SAR operation which remains ongoing. The family of the seafarer have been informed and are being kept regularly updated on the situation. Help and support are being offered at this difficult time.

A full investigation will take place into the circumstances of the disappearance of the seafarer. All the appropriate authorities, insurers, flag state and DG Shipping have been advised.
