Maran Orpheus delivered to Maran Tankers as part of the world’s largest shipbuilding programme for a private ship owner 


The newly built tanker Maran Orpheus was delvered to Maran Tankers Management of the Angelikoussis Group in August.

It is a suezmax, with a capacity of 157,000 tons dw registered in the Greek register and is monitored by the classification society DNV GL and is the 2nd of a total of 5 tankers ordered at the South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).

In the summer the suezmax Maran Phoebe was also delivered to the Greek Shipowner, with a capacity of 157,947 tons dw with a Greek flag and monitored by the classification society DNV GL.

The 157,000-tonne dw Suezmax Maran Aspasia is expected to be delivered in October, with a Greek flag to be monitored by the US classification society ABS, and in May and June 2021 two more VLCC tankers are to be delivered with a capacity of 318,000 tonnes each.

Mr. Angelikoussis has the largest shipbuilding program in the world for a private shipowner with the three companies belonging to the Group (Maran Dry, formerly Anangel Maritime Service, Maran Tankers and Maran Gas) having ordered 22 ships.

Maran Dry Management has received three capsize vessels this year, the Maran Splendour, Maran Fidelity in March and Maran Endeavour in June.
