GTMaritime has recruited two more staff for its Singapore office. As a waypoint for many ships travelling between East Asia and Europe or Oceania, the city state has established itself as one of the world’s major maritime hubs. GTMaritime opened an office there in early 2018, managed by our local customer support specialist, Sabrina Zeckiriah.

However, with a rapidly growing client base across the Asia Pacific region, it was time to expand our Singapore family, so we recently appointed two new staff: Bennerick Samson as Technical Sales Engineer; and Larry Tan as a second customer support specialist. Read on to get to know the team.

Sabrina arrived at GTMaritime from the aviation industry where she worked in IT operations and supporting customers of aircraft communication systems. After completing her Master’s degree, she had returned to Singapore from eight years living in Montreal, Canada. “I grew up not far from the Port of Singapore and remember being fascinated by the never-ending succession of large cargo ships heading to and from the port whenever I visited the beach,” she says. “Joining GTMaritime has offered me a glimpse of the how the industry works.”

In common with Sabrina, Bennerick has a background in aviation. He joins GTMaritime with six years technical sales experience in information management systems for Collins Aerospace, which seems a little incongruous given that he studied Maritime Technology Management at the Australian Maritime College (Tasmania). In his spare time, he loves hiking, and not long ago completed a return hike to Everest Base Camp. No doubt Bennerick is looking to reach new peaks in his career at GTMaritime.

Larry grew up in the Philippines and moved to Singapore in 2008. With some IT experience already under his belt, he quickly found a job as systems engineer for Cadbury – yes, the chocolate company. By 2012 he had sated his appetite for confectionary and joined the ship management company V.Ships as a vessel systems support engineer, attending almost a hundred vessels during his tenure. Larry is a keen runner, says he loves cooking for his wife, and collects vintage Nokia phones.
