The new vessel proudly bears the name of Neptune’s founder, who laid the foundation for the creation and enduring evolution of the Group. Her addition to the fleet marks the beginning of celebrations commemorating 50+ years of operation.
Neptune Group took delivery of the newbuild “NIKOS TRAVLOS” at the Fujian Mawei shipyard in China, the second vessel of the expanded Genesis Project. This represents the Group’s strategic renewal and modernising programme for its fleet, introducing next-generation Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs).
Through the Genesis Project, Neptune Group is investing in vessels built to high technical standards, meeting the evolving requirements of the international automotive sector. The initiative strengthens Neptune’s comprehensive automotive logistics services, covering maritime transport as well as overland and port terminal operations.
“NIKOS TRAVLOS” is equipped with an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system capable of operating on both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and conventional marine fuels. This technology provides enhanced operational flexibility and reduces specific airborne emissions, depending on the fuel selected and operating conditions.
This investment underpins the Group’s objectives to improve the environmental and operational performance of its fleet, while expanding its transport capacity.
While all fleet vessels carry Neptune’s trademark “Eyes” on their bow, “NIKOS TRAVLOS” stands out with a symbolic detail: a moustache, painted as a mark of honour to the Group’s founder, Nikos Travlos.
The delivery ceremony was held in the presence of Neptune Group President Melina Travlou, alongside representatives from partner companies and organisations from both countries.

During the ceremony, Neptune Group President Melina Travlou stated:
“Today is a deeply emotional day for me. It feels as though I am reuniting with my father. With today’s delivery, his name, NIKOS TRAVLOS, sets sail across the seas of the world, which he loved so dearly and served with honour and integrity.”
“It was a conscious and deeply personal decision to inaugurate Neptune’s 50th-anniversary celebrations with the vessel that bears my father’s and our founder’s name. NIKOS TRAVLOS joins the Genesis Project, the new generation of our fleet. A vessel of the future that showcases how we view our journey forward: with safety, responsibility, and continuous progress.”
Referring to the distinctive detail on the vessel’s bow, Melina Travlou added:
“Only today, the eyes also gained… a moustache. Your moustache, father. And I am certain you are watching over us. Watching us closely. And that today, from up above, you are smiling with pride.”
During the ceremony, the Group President expressed her gratitude to Neptune’s partners in China, the management and workforce of Fujian Mawei shipyard, and all the teams whose efforts contributed to the construction and successful completion of the vessel.
With the delivery of “NIKOS TRAVLOS” into the fleet, Neptune Group links its rich heritage to its future path, advancing its strategic investment programme while remaining true to the foundational values of its founder: integrity, responsibility, and the ongoing pursuit of progress.
