Limassol – Piraeus ferry connection – New strategy for Cyprus Shipping passed on to the EEBT Committee


The Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism was informed yesterday about the new strategic planning for shipping and the objectives of the Shipping Deputy Ministry.

With a contribution of 7% to GDP and tens of thousands of jobs on land and at sea, Cyprus shipping is a central pillar of support for the Cypriot economy.

After huge efforts, the ferry connection Limassol – Piraeus, with a stopover in Crete or Rhodes will materialise in May 2021. By the end of October this year the announcement of bids will be published and by mid-January the registration of the successful bidder.

Flawless cooperation of the parliamentary committee both with the new Shipping Deputy Minister Vassilios Demetriades, but also with his predecessor, the current Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Natasa Pilides.
