Cyprus Marine Club presentation by Mr. Petros Achtypis, CEO at Prevention at Sea E-orb – The Next Generation

On the 19th November , Cyprus Marine Club held the last presentation of 2019 by Mr. Petros Achtypis – CEO at Marine Fields entitled “E-ORB – the next generation”.

The ε-ORB is a Lloyd’s Register certified maritime software application and was developed aiming to enhance the efficiency on board and demonstrating compliance with requirements of international conventions and Flag Registries with regards to Electronic Oil Record Book. The ε-ORB has been designed to assist the Mariners in the traditional paper Oil Record Book record keeping and subsequently replace it by establishing software transparency, credibility and traceability.

Liberian Registry along with Prevention at Sea Ltd., were selected as the winner of the Lloyd’s List Americas 2017 ‘’Maritime Services Award’’ for the launching of the Electronic Oil Record Book (ε-ORB) (Part I and Part II) Maritime Software.

The maritime application ε-ORB was designed in accordance with MARPOL requirements and currently holds Lloyd’s Register certificate under MARPOL Annex I reg 17 & 36 as well as MEPC.1/Circ. 736/Rev. 2 guidelines.

It is a User friendly maritime software application, its installation by the user is easy and provides the possibility of data recording within the same server as well as having the ability to be used by several clients from multiple work stations. The concept of the ε-ORB is to provide a paperless solution for efficient record keeping as it is focused on preventing vague entries, incorrect ORB format and code mismatches. The ε-ΟRB supports automatic duplication of records between the fleet and their operator offices by using the communication systems already available on board.

It also provides a secured way to record Oil Record Book operational activities occurring on board. It is designed in such a way that events are time and date stamped with UTC times. These recordings are stored securely, are available for administrative view and have the electronic signature of the vessel’s officers in charge. It simulates the same hard copy process in a digitalized form without affecting the daily routine of recording ORB operational entries.

The ε-ORB has gained worldwide recognition by obtaining several approvals from Major Registries.

The software is available under two different schemes i.e. ‘Pay as you Ship’ annual scheme and ‘One off payment’ scheme

The President as always welcomed warmly all gathered members and took an opportunity to remind that the third New Year Gala will take place on January 10th 2020 in Parklane Hotel. For reservations, please call on 25662555 or drop us an email : info@cyprusmarineclub.org.cy.
