The PSA does not wish to speculate about the causes of these leakages. Dealing with current position is up to the authorities in the respective countries. Questions concerning the protection of Norway’s national safety with regard to the pipelines must be put to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

Drones

The PSA has received a number of warnings/notifications from operator companies on the NCS concerning the observation of unidentified drones/aircraft close to offshore facilities. It has urged all operators and vessel owners on the NCS to show increased vigilance.

Cases where drones have infringed the safety zone around facilities are now being investigated by the Norwegian police. Questions about these incidents must be addressed to the south-west Norway police district.

PSA’s role

PSA’s role as the supervisory authority is clear: they ensure that the companies comply with the regulations – including with regard to preparedness against deliberate attacks.

They are carefully monitoring the position, and are maintaining a close dialogue with the companies and other relevant government agencies.
