Acutec and XipLink deliver Always-On Global connectivity for Luxury Superyacht

Utilizes XipNet Cloud-based Global SD-WAN service
Acutec, an authorized partner for XipNet, the cloud-managed SD-WAN service from XipLink, today announced the successful deployment of a 1 Gbps XipNet Cloud SD-WAN service aboard a luxury superyacht. The solution delivers resilient, always-on connectivity by intelligently combining over a dozen hybrid WAN connections, including multiple LEO, GEO VSAT, 5G, LTE, and WiFi communications into a single, high-performance service.
Designed to provide an enterprise-class connectivity experience at sea, the XipNet service enables guests & crew to enjoy high-speed internet, uninterrupted application performance, and seamless connectivityas the yacht operates across different regions of the world.
Following extensive testing and validation, Acutec’s engineering team deployed the XipNet Edge platform and configured intelligent routing, application-aware traffic steering, and dynamic link prioritization. The solution automatically selects the most appropriate connection based on link quality and availability, application requirements, and the yacht’s geographic location, ensuring optimum performance and continuous service.
A key capability of the XipNet service is its globally distributed cloud infrastructure, which enables regional internet breakout through strategically located XipNet cloud gateways around the world. This allows passengers and crew to securely access region-specific applications, streaming platforms, and localized online content with lower latency and improved responsiveness, regardless of where the yacht is operating.
The XipNet App provides the customer with real-time visibility into network performance. The XipNet Management System (XMS) provides comprehensive analytics on the performance of each WAN link, application performance, and XipLink Edge device health, enabling administrators to proactively monitor and quickly identify potential issues. Administrators can also switch traffic between XipNet PoPs when needed to optimize performance, improve latency, or meet changing operational requirements.
The service has now been operating successfully for several months, consistently delivering reliable, high-performance connectivity while achieving up to 95% utilization efficiency of available bandwidth through intelligent aggregation, WAN optimization, and application-aware traffic management.
Jonathan Salton, Managing Director, Acutec Systems, said “At Acutec we’re focused on delivering the best solution for each unique application. For this significant new-build project, the owner had specific requirements around breakout jurisdictions and the intelligent integration of many diverse WAN services. Among its many benefits, XipNet provides enterprise-grade security, efficiency and reliability, even in some of the world’s most challenging licensing environments. XipNet proved both resilient and efficient throughout testing, and we are confident it was the right choice.”
Jaco Botha, SVP Product, XipLink, said, “XipNet extends the power of XipLink’s networking technology as a cloud-managed service, enabling customers to maximize the performance of hybrid satellite and terrestrial networks without adding operational complexity. This deployment demonstrates how intelligent Cloud SD-WAN, WAN optimization, global cloud gateways, and real-time analytics work together to deliver an exceptional onboard connectivity experience anywhere in the world.”
This successful deployment demonstrates how the XipNet Cloud SD-WAN service from XipLink enables maritime operators to maximize the performance of multiple connectivity providers while simplifying network management and delivering an enterprise-class digital experience for guests and crew.
