Carus 2026: Driving Digital Transformation in the Ferry Industry with new solutions and global expansion

Carus, the global leader in digital solutions for the ferry and cruise industry, has announced a strong start to 2026, building on a landmark year of growth, technological innovation, and international expansion.
Reflecting on a successful 2025, the company celebrated the acquisition of five new global clients and the commercial launch of Carus Engage. This next-generation platform has already empowered several operators to deploy custom consumer applications via the Carus Travel App, providing passengers with a “360-degree” mobile journey—ranging from intuitive booking and digital cabin keys to seamless lounge access.
Modernizing the Operator Experience
The past year also saw the successful rollout of four critical modules within the modern Carus Engage interface: Reporting, Customer Management, Booking Management, and Check-in. In a move to better support its diverse international portfolio, Carus has made the entire User Interface (UI) fully multi-lingual. This update ensures that operators worldwide can manage daily business, boarding scanners, and self-service kiosks in their preferred language through a streamlined, modern interface.
A Partnership-First Philosophy
Carus CEO, Anders Rundberg, attributes this momentum to the company’s “on the spot” philosophy, emphasizing that technology is most effective when paired with personal collaboration.
“We are committed to being ‘on the spot’ for our partners, implementing our adaptable solutions together with them as one team,” says Rundberg. “Signing five new client contracts in 2025 confirms that our technology excels across a wide variety of global regions. To maintain this edge, we have continued to invest heavily in our most important asset: our staff.”
2026: A Global Calendar of Engagement
As a staple of the “ferry family,” the Carus team has a packed 2026 schedule, underscoring its role as a global participant rooted in the maritime tradition of the Åland Islands. The team will be engaging with industry leaders at several key events:
-
PVA Annual Meeting (Maritrends): Covington, Kentucky (Feb 22–25)
-
Shippax Ferry Conference: Onboard ms. Rapsody (May 5–7)
-
Åland Maritime Day: (May 26)
-
ANAVE Annual Meeting: Spain (June)
-
Canadian Ferry Association (CFA): Ottawa (Sep 20–22)
-
Ferry Shipping Summit: Athens (Oct 8–9)
-
Interferry Conference: Bangkok (Oct 31–Nov 4)
25 Years of Innovation
With over a quarter-century of experience, Carus remains at the cutting edge of maritime tech.
“The reason for our success is that we stay close to our customers,” Rundberg concludes. “We look forward to meeting many old and new friends from all over the world throughout 2026 as we continue to bridge the gap between digital efficiency and human service.”
