Samsung Heavy signs contract to build 4 LNG carriers worth 1.4 trillion won
Samsung Heavy Industries announced on July 1 that it has signed a contract with a shipowner in the Middle East to build four liquefied natural gas carriers. The contract is valued at 1.44 trillion won .
Samsung Heavy Industries has explained that “the ships are scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner sequentially by August 2028.”
Samsung Heavy Industries has secured orders for 22 vessels this year, including the latest contract. These orders comprise 19 LNG carriers, two very large ammonia carriers (VLACs), and one shuttle tanker.
The cumulative order value is $4.9 billion, achieving 51 percent of this year’s order target of $9.7 billion. The company’s order backlog stands at $33.7 billion.
