BW LPG achieves significant cost reduction in lubricant spending with Closelink as its new procurement platform

Closelink, a leader in lubricant-specific procurement, is proud to announce its first-year performance results with BW LPG, a globally leading LPG vessel owner and operator, publicly listed on the Oslo and New York stock exchanges. The results highlight an important 8% cost reduction across the entire fleet’s lube oil spending, demonstrating Closelink’s role in improving cost efficiency through technology.
Rick Ackermann, Head of Procurement at BW LPG, commented on the benefits of the collaboration: “We are impressed with the tangible savings and attractive ROI reported in the first year. From day one, Closelink has been a reliable partner in our journey towards more efficient and cost-effective lubricant planning and procurement”. He adds: “To us, Closelink is more than a procurement platform. In collaboration with Closelink, we developed a new initiative, LOOK (Lubricant Oil Optimisation Keys), which aims to further boost optimisation across our supply chain. Closelink serves not only as a bridge between BW LPG and our key supplier but also as an integrator and catalyst, facilitating additional improvements.”
Closelink offers a strategic procurement platform that automates processes, enhances transparency, and significantly reduces lubricant costs. Its category-specific tools enable early demand detection, optimal planning, and a streamlined end-to-end ordering process. By analysing real-time data and considering each vessel’s individual consumptions and schedules, Closelink helps clients make cost-efficient decisions With over 1,000 ships already benefiting from these actionable insights, Closelink is expanding its capabilities to offer even greater value to managers looking to boost efficiency and reduce lubricant costs.
Philippe Lavarde, CEO of Closelink, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “BW LPG’s performance results clearly demonstrate the tangible value and high ROI that Closelink delivers. We are excited to continue this partnership and to further strengthen BW LPG’s competitive position in the industry.”
Aneeshmon Thankappan, Regional Business Development Manager at Closelink, highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration: “We are extremely thankful for the trust and partnership of the BW LPG team, which contribute to achieving significant savings quickly. Our rapid expansion in the Asia Pacific is not only a sign of a commitment to progressive and transparent management practices in the region, but also a reflection of the strong relationships and trust we have built with our customers.”
