The Port Authority of Valencia  is attending the annual meeting of the cruise industry, which this year is being held in Genoa from March 11 to 14. Valenciaport’s participation has focused on conveying its message of awareness – already shared by the entire value chain of this activity – to adapt cruise destinations to people with reduced mobility.

“Valenciaport is already working with tourism managers in the province of Valencia to make activities of all kinds, from visiting a museum or going down the Túria, accessible to all types of people, regardless of their mobility; and that is the message we are bringing to Genoa,” explains Francesca Antonelli, head of Cruises and Marketing of the APV.

CLIA’s European event began in 2022, in the wake of the pandemic, and now stands as “the main platform where cruise industry leaders, policy makers, the media and the public are able to meet and exchange ideas and experiences.

This is a meeting that Valenciaport has always attended, given the opportunities it offers to discuss the evolution of the cruise business, share their views on key issues and challenges, cultivate new relationships and collaborate on new solutions that help the sector grow. In this edition, in addition to mobility, the other topics to be addressed will be those related to the protection of marine environments (of special interest to cruise ships and ports), the strengthening of bridges of permanent dialogue between shipping lines, ports and tourist destinations, the financing of the energy transition and decarbonization. All of these are aspects in which the APV has been developing projects for years.
