MSC joins forces with Group Grant to support Servette Teams across all disciplines

The MSC Group has signed a major partnership with Groupe Grenat to sponsor several emblematic Servette teams. The MSC Group was established in Geneva in 1970 and two of the Group’s main arms will participate in the sponsorship to support their local teams.
As part of the three-year partnership, Servette Football Club men’s and women’s teams and Servette Rugby Genève will fly the colours of MSC Cruises, while Geneva Servette Hockey Club will fly the colours of MSC Cargo.
After a year that saw the Hockey Club make it to the Swiss National Hockey League, the women’s football team’s victory in the Swiss Cup, and the men’s football club place second in the Super League, this new joint adventure promises to be fruitful and rich in emotion.
“The MSC Group is proud to support and encourage the Servette teams in their entirety and in all that they represent for the people of Geneva. This partnership reflects our profound attachment to Geneva – where our family business has been built and developed for over 50 years – as well as our enthusiasm for sport and the values it conveys. We are delighted to be working alongside Groupe Grenat and to contribute to the development of its clubs in Geneva, Switzerland and beyond,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of the Cruise Division of the MSC Group.
“As a family business, we seek to support sports teams and events that are connected to the local communities where we work and operate. Team sports reflect our values, in particular how a strong collective commitment can achieve amazing results. This partnership with Groupe Grenat is in the same spirit and is particularly close to our hearts given that Geneva is our hometown,” he adds.
Didier Fischer, Chairman of the Fondation 1890, the sole shareholder of the Servette clubs, shared some feelings on the new partnership: “I am delighted to welcome this new era of collaboration between our Group and MSC. The confidence shown by MSC’s founding family reflects our shared desire to inspire a winning dynamic for Geneva. MSC’s teams’ commitment is remarkable, and the Geneva clubs are proud to work with them.”
The partnership will be made official for fans on 13 July with the presentation of the new Servette FC and Servette Chênois women’s shirts, featuring MSC Cruises as main sponsor. There is already an important deadline looming with Servette FC’s Champions League qualifier against Genk on 25 July.
The rugby and ice hockey seasons begin in September.
