Limassol Marina recipient of an Honorary Distinction for its valuable contribution to Cyprus’ tourism and economic growth

Limassol Marina is honoured to announce that it has been awarded an honorary distinction by the Cyprus Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of the Marina’s contribution to the Cypriot economy, particularly in the tourism sector.

The awarding of the honorary distinction was carried out by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, to the Limassol Marina’s General Manager, Mr Nikiforos Pampakas, after the conclusion of the Cyprus Export Awards 2021 ceremony at the Presidential Palace’s Events Hall. Held on 26th June 2023, this special award ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, government officials, and prominent figures from the tourism and business sectors.

This Honorary Distinction to Limassol Marina reflects the culmination of hard work, visionary planning, and a commitment to promoting the country as a world-class yachting and leisure destination. It also further cements the Marina as a driver for tourism and economic growth by positioning Cyprus on the nautical yachting map, opening a new market as the first private port with the ability to welcome superyachts to the island, attracting investments in the region, upgrading the island’s tourism product, enticing buyers and visitors from high end markets, encouraging repeat visits to the island and creating new jobs for more than 500 individuals during the construction of the project (the figure doubling with the commencement of operations).

Limassol Marina is undoubtedly an unprecedented success story for the island. This iconic superyacht destination is the first superyacht marina in Cyprus and the first mixed-use residential resort with yachting facilities. The Marina has concluded residential contracts in excess of €500 million for exclusive residences, and sold properties to over 48 nationalities, reflecting global appeal.  An extension of Limassol’s cultural city centre, the Marina has welcomed and handled more than 9,000 yachts and 300 unique superyachts; and facilitates over 400 berth holders. This landmark luxury development is comprised of a variety of high-quality facilities and outlets that attract daily traffic of almost 3k people during the week, increasing to 5k–6k over the weekend (60% tourists). The Marina has changed the face of the city of Limassol, offering a new destination for living and sailing in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Cyprus Export Awards promote the values of entrepreneurship and award the vision, creativity, innovation and foresight of the Cypriot businesses. They also highlight their contribution to society and they recognise the efforts of the various entrepreneurs and employees, who use these values, collectively, in their daily workload, in order to achieve their goals and deal with any environmental challenges through the years.
