We are now searching for a new employee for one of our Business Areas, Arribatec Marine which specialises in the digitalisation of the maritime sector. Four decades have been dedicated to the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge fleet management systems worldwide. Our passion lies in maximizing our customers’ returns, providing enhanced control over their marine operations, and creating competitive advantages through our self-developed software, InfoSHIP.
About the role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior Technician to join our Operations and Support department for its office in Limassol (Cyprus). As a Junior Technician, you will primarily focus on providing technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of our shipping software solution, “Infoship.”
Your role will involve working closely with MSSQL databases, troubleshooting issues, and assisting in maintaining the software applications used by our clients. Additionally, this position requires occasional business trips to client locations/vessels or any other Arribatec office.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support:
- Provide effective technical support to clients and internal stakeholders regarding software-related queries and issues.
- Investigate and troubleshoot database-related problems, resolving them in a timely manner to minimize disruption.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
- Incident Management:
- Monitor and respond to incoming incidents and service requests related to the software applications.
- Follow established processes to categorize, prioritize, and escalate incidents appropriately.
- Communicate updates and resolutions to stakeholders throughout the incident lifecycle.
- Database Administration and Monitoring:
- Assist in performing routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, indexing, and optimization.
- Monitor database performance and take necessary actions to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
- Assist in managing user access and security settings to maintain data integrity.
- On-Site Support:
- Travel to client locations for on-site support and troubleshooting as needed.
- Collaborate with clients’ technical teams to diagnose and resolve software and database-related issues.
- Provide training and guidance to clients’ personnel on the effective use of our software applications.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of support processes, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
- Generate reports and provide insights on incident trends, database performance, and potential improvements.
- Contribute to the knowledge base by documenting common issues and their resolutions.
Who are you?
You are passionate about providing technical support, ensuring smooth software operations, and possess a strong foundation in MSSQL, including the ability to travel for on-site support; we encourage you to apply for the position of Junior Technician in our Operations and Support department.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field is recommended.
- Previous experience or coursework related to databases, preferably MSSQL.
- Familiarity with SQL query language and stored procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong understanding of database concepts, data modelling, and relational database management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) administration and maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., T-SQL, PowerShell) for automation and task execution.
- Familiarity with data integration and ETL processes is a plus.
- Ability to analyse and troubleshoot software and database-related issues effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Aptitude for logical and analytical thinking.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented approach.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
- Ability and willingness to travel to client locations occasionally for on-site support and troubleshooting or to visit any Arribatec office.
