Last chance to sign up for Mission to Seafarers and Adventure Race Japan

The Mission to Seafarers invites teams and sponsors to get involved in a once-in-a-lifetime challenge in support of seafarer welfare, as sign ups close in January.
The Mission to Seafarers is issuing a last-call for shipping organisations that want to take on the challenge of Adventure Race Japan, which takes place in May 2023. This is MtS’ first maritime industry challenge of its kind in Asia, and sign-ups for participants and sponsors will close at the end of January.
The challenge takes place between 18th – 21st May 2023 and will see 200 participants follow a trail along the Izu Peninsula, through the UNESCO Geopark area under the watchful eye of Mount Fuji. Teams will consist of three competitors, who will start and finish the race together. There are two race options; the Green Dragon Race for those who would like to walk much of the trail, and the Black Dragon Race for participants looking to run.
As well as taking on the race, they will experience team-building activities, connect with industry peers during networking dinners and drinks, and support the all-important cause of seafarer welfare.
The current list of teams includes APM Terminals, Arrow Shipbroking Group, ASP Crew Management Services, Ben Line Agencies, Fairfield Chemical Carriers Pte Ltd, Gard, The Japan Maritime Daily, Lockton Edge, Marsh Japan, Norstar Shipping, North, Stena, Swire Bulk, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, MtS South East Asia, ISC Corporation, UK P&I Club Japan, Shoei Kisen Kaisa Ltd., Ocean Network Express Japan, Eastern Pacific Shipping, Graig Shipping, Core Power, Britannia/ Tindall Riley, Uyeno Transtech Ltd, Tamar Ship Management, Swire Shipping and Willis Towers Watson.
All proceeds raised from the Adventure Race Japan will go towards supporting seafarers and fund the ongoing delivery and expansion of The Mission to Seafarers’ global welfare services.
Jan Webber, Director of Development at The Mission to Seafarers, commented: “We’ve had brilliant uptake for the Adventure Race Japan, with so many industry players signing up to support seafarers’ welfare. We look forward to welcoming all teams to Japan and seeing who comes out on top! It will be a fantastic opportunity for the maritime industry to come together, network and have fun, all the while supporting shipping’s most important asset – its seafarers. Don’t miss your chance to sign up as a participant or as a sponsor for this once-in-a-lifetime challenge.”
