Valenciaport calls for tenders for the photovoltaic installation on the roof of the Valencia Terminal Europa vehicle silo at the Port of Valencia

Companies may submit their bids until 10 November 2022. The base budget for the tender is 17,150,896.34 euros.

This project is financed by the Next Generation funds of the European Union and the Spanish Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

It is in addition to the project for the dock at Muelle Príncipe Felipe in the Port of Valencia and the installation for shed 4 at the Gandia site

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has put out to tender the construction and maintenance of a photovoltaic energy generation plant for self-consumption to be located on the roof of the Valencia Terminal Europa vehicle silo on the East dock quay in the Port of Valencia. The project has a base tender budget of 17,150,896.34 euros and interested companies have until 10 November at 13.00 hours to submit their bids.

This installation will be located on a surface area of 27,700 m2 on the roof of the terminal operated by the company Grimaldi. The infrastructure will have 10,773 photovoltaic modules installed on a metallic structure inclined at four degrees and facing south. Four transformers will be installed in two transformer centres with two units of 1,250 kilovolt-amperes (kVA) each and another two of 1,600 kVA. This installation will generate around 9,000 MWh/year, which represents approximately 11% of the Port of Valencia’s electrical energy consumption.

This project is financed by the Next Generation funds of the European Union and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Spanish Government.

The term for the photovoltaic installation is 24 months or, where appropriate, the term offered by the successful bidder, while maintenance will be 36 months.

Commitment to the environment

The PAV has also put out to tender the photovoltaic energy plant for self-consumption to be located on the Príncipe Felipe dock with a base tender budget of 3,018,594.19 euros, including maintenance for four years. This installation will generate 2,353 MWh/year, that is, 3% of the electrical energy consumed by the Port of Valencia. Between these two plants, 14% of the electrical energy required by the precinct will be produced.

In addition, the tender for the solar plant of the Port of Gandia has also been published. It will be located in shed 4 on a surface area of 4,500 square metres, with a power of 990 MWh/year, a base budget of 1,558,001.2 euros and will make the Port of Gandia the first European port to be energy self-sufficient.
