Incheon Port Authority  announced on July 17 that global shipping giant MSC launched its Pertiwi service at Incheon Port on July 15.

According to the IPA, the new service is the sixth regular container route opened at Incheon Port this year. It increased the number of regular container services between Incheon and Southeast Asia to 36.

The new weekly service offers customers a direct link from North China and Korea to Southeast Asia, providing improved transit times and more service offerings. The ports it serves include Incheon and Busan of South Korea and those in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. The first ship of the service, the MSC IDA II, arrived at Incheon Container Terminal (ICT) at 11 a.m. on July 15.

The service operates four 2,500 TEU vessels. The cargo volume is expected to reach about 20,000 TEUs or more per year. In particular, as the service rotation includes Vung Tau of Vietnam, where several Korean companies such as KTCT Vietnamese Logistics Center, POSCO, and Hyosung are located, the new service is expected to boost the trade volume between Korea and Vietnam significantly.

The service rotation is: Busan – Qingdao – Incheon – Dalian – Tianjin Xingang – Vung Tau – Laem Chabang – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Jakarta – Panjang – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Busan.
