OneLearn Global welcomes drive for greater digitalisation in seafarer training

CEO Abhinava (Abhi) S. Narayana welcomes drive for greater digitalisation in seafarer training

OneLearn Global has welcomed findings by Inmarsat that tomorrow’s seafarers will demand greater use of technology, digitalisation and faster internet speeds at sea as part of their future training requirements.

“The rapid adoption of available digital tools will not only accelerate the training and wellbeing choices and options open to seafarers, but also help organizations build a productive and engaged workforce in the years ahead,” said OLG CEO, Abhinava  S. Narayana.

Responding to research by Inmarsat into how seafaring will change in the coming decades, Mr Narayana said the availability of ever-changing digital tools and technology in training was vitally important to a global workforce which, undoubtedly, will need increasingly higher levels of technical training in the future.

Paraphrasing the Inmarsat report A Fair Future for Seafarers, he said that tomorrow’s seafarers will train to become more agile in the workplace with less “singular specialisation,” and with more emphasis on continuous professional development.

“Embracing the power of digitalisation is at the heart of everything we do here at OLG because it is essential to maximising the Human Capital Development opportunities for today’s seafarers onshore and at sea. OLG is committed to bringing to the Maritime Industry the best in learning technologies – such as augmented reality, virtual reality, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and more as well as artificial intelligence, to drive the learning journey for today and tomorrow’s seafarers, but it is important that seafarers and the companies they work for, are comfortable with the pace of change,” he added.

OneLearn Global provides digital training solutions to serve the maritime, energy, hospitality and industrial sectors and offers a rapidly growing content library via an enormously effective and intuitive next-gen Learning Management System (LMS), designed to deliver both an enhanced and engaging, yet personalised and intuitive, enjoyable learning experience through digitalisation.
