Thome Group has won the 2022 Singapore Business Review  National Business Award in the shipping category for delivering successful solutions in managing a wide range of global marine assets, while providing a safe and healthy working environment for its employees.

Launched in 2016, the SBR National Business Awards honours local companies headquartered in Singapore by recognising their outstanding projects that contribute to Singapore’s fast-growing economy.

Thome was recognised for launching Vanir Marine, a supply chain specialist that is actively engaged with the development of global contracts, tenders, and meaningful solutions for large fleets, as well as small ship owners and managers, by providing a single point of contact on their behalf.

Vanir is also actively engaging with a lot of Singapore Maritime 4.0 stakeholders for collaboration and achieving digitalisation and standardisation targets for Singapore as a maritime centre.

Another successful project initiated by the Group was the innovative in-house travel reservation system called Aegir Marine Travel. It allows Thome’s staff to see travel availability quickly instead of requiring the services of external travel agents. Although still in its infancy, Aegir has already shown positive results in terms of revenue growth and possibly expanding this service to external partners in the future.

In addition to these successful projects, Thome has also supported its staff with ground-breaking initiatives designed to make their very busy working lives easier. One of these is the crew self-service digital platform which enables seafarers to perform various tasks online, including the updating of their personal information, documents, training, certification, intended joining vessel information, contracts, pay slips, and much more.

Thome Group also launched the Seafarer Assistance via ISWAN- a bespoke emotional support service operated by SWAN Ltd. It is a confidential 24/7 helpline operated by specially trained counsellors, available to Thome’s employees and its seafarers’ families.  The project aims to give valuable tips to people on coping with feeling low, stressed, and fatigued and help maximise their psychological well-being.

Finally, the company was rewarded due to its due diligence regarding its planned head office relocation. A series of workshops were held with employee input to ensure that creative, efficient and sustainable offices were designed for staff in an inclusive environment.
