Farewell ceremony for the Greek delegation and official partnership announcement between P.P.A. and the Hellenic Olympic Committee

The Piraeus Port Authority, through the years a constant sponsor of Sports and an active supporter of the Greek athletes, launches another major initiative, this time as a proud Gold Partner of the Hellenic Olympic Team, in the upcoming Winter Olympic Games that will take place in Beijing from 4 to 20 February 2022.

On January 29^th 2022, a farewell event for the athletes of the Greek delegation was held at the premises of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, during which the exchange of cooperation documents between the Chairman of the Piraeus Port Authority Mr. Yu Zenggang and the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Mr. Spyros Capralos took place. The event was also attended by Mr. Xiao Junzheng, Ambassador of China to Greece and Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis, Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports.

The President of HOC and IOC member Mr. Spyros Capralos thanked PPA and COSCO SHIPPING for their decision to become the Gold Sponsor of the Greek delegation at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. He stressed that the support provided to HOC, involving a long and difficult journey, is important, while it is certain that with the help of PPA – COSCO the athletes representing Greece at this top world sporting event will give their best and make all Greeks proud.

PPA Chairman Mr. Yu Zenggang, pleased with this development, expressed his deep satisfaction that P.P.A. once again actively supports the Greek society as well as the athletes and Sports though the present initiative, while he emphasized that such initiatives are not a random act, but moreover systematic and targeted and decided within the overall strategy that the organization has adopted for the Port of Piraeus.

It is noted, that this initiative is incorporated into PPA’s corporate social responsibility pillar, an integral part of the organization’s broader strategy, directly linked to the holistic approach the management is implementing for the upgrade and modernization of the Port of Piraeus, having as a key driver the multifaced support of the society. Specifically, the support and prosperity of the local and national communities as well as the associated groups is at the center of the organization’s activities, alongside the contribution to various fields such as to humanitarian and cultural activities as well as to non-profit organizations active in healthcare and vulnerable social groups. It is reminded, that in the same framework, the Group during a previous athletic year has been a proud Major Sponsor of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, supporting disabled athletes to fulfill their dreams.
