BSM Hellas managed ship “MIRELLA S” wins the 2021 Golden Pommeau Cane

One of the finest traditions of Quebec’s maritime and commercial industry, upheld by the Quebec Port Authority (APQ) @portquebec, is the annual presentation of the ‘Cane à pommeau’. This is awarded to the first ocean-going vessel of the new year, arriving at the Port of Quebec from a foreign port to load or unload cargo.
This maritime tradition, perpetuated at the Port of Quebec since 1835, sees the BSM Hellas managed ship MIRELLA S become the 186th ship to be bestowed with this honour following her arrival 8:10 am at the Port of Quebec on January 1 2021. Subsequently on Saturday January 2 2021, in a dedicated ceremony, the President and CEO of the APQ, Mr. Mario Girard, presented the precious trophy to our lucky Captain Ivan Pauk. In addition to the magnificent cane, Capt. Pauk was also awarded the coat of arms of the harbour, the sacred stick of the word from the Quebec neighbours Hurons Wendat (from the North shore of Lake Ontario) and a box of delicious maple syrup!
The BSM Hellas team send their congratulations to Captain Pauk and the crew of Mirella S, we really enjoyed receiving this new year news.
