Cyprus drilling program is on track Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister Natasa Pilides says

Cyprus Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Natasa Pilides has said that Cyprus drilling program is on track, adding that meetings and contacts are underway.

In statements in Paphos, during a visit at the local Commerce and Industry Chamber, Pilides said that the government will have on Wednesday meetings with TOTAL and ENI while there is continuous communication with Exxon Mobil as regards the drilling that is planned to take place in September – October 2021.

As regards block Aphrodite of Cyprus’ EEZ, Pilides said that they are in constant contact with Chevron, Delek and Shell about all issues which they are handling, expressing hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will not raise any obstacles. She noted that the Energy Ministry and the companies continue their planning with the belief that there will not be further problems.

“We adopt the necessary measures and we discuss measures that must be adopted so that they will be able to continue their activities within the timeframes,” she added. Replying to questions, the Minister said that the pandemic has negatively affected the market and the prices something which is connected with the coronavirus.
