The world-leading torque & shaft power measurement specialists Datum Electronics appoints a new distributor for its marine products in Cyprus. Datum Shaft Power Meter and Datum Hawk systems are both aimed at helping ship owners, operators and fleet managers save money on fuel, improve maintenance schedule and reduce operational costs.

Operating from five strategic locations in Greece, Cyprus, Singapore, Russia and UAE, UMAR Shipping Services represents over 30 of the world’s leading manufacturers of maritime equipment, from highly sophisticated electronic systems, electrical & mechanical equipment to uniquely developed equipment that serves specific aspects of the shipping industry. Having 20 years of experience in the maritime industry, UMAR Shipping Services will be acting on behalf of Datum on the marine market in Cyprus and will be looking to deliver all of the fantastic features of Datum Shaft Power Meter and Datum Hawk systems to the Cypriot customers.

Datum Shaft Power Meter has been successfully installed on more than 800 vessels worldwide, including Oldendorff Carriers. The market-leading system is specifically designed to help ship owners and operators improve their vessel’s fuel efficiency in a range of operating conditions and reduce emissions within the industry.

Likewise, our condition-based monitoring system Datum Hawk offers a unique insight into an individual cylinder of an engine or diesel generator and identifies specific changes within them.
By using a high sample rate of 2,000 sps, Datum Hawk represents the ultimate torque sensor system, that allows for sharply-focused preventative maintenance, saving both time and money. Despite being launched only three months ago, we have already secured 53 orders for the system, with estimated savings for our customers of $19MM/year in fuel.
