Government Spokesperson Kyriakos Koushios announced Cyprus’ new Cabinet today.

The Deputy Ministry of Shipping will be headed by Vassilis Demetriades, who is the national expert on maritime policy issues at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport. The new Shipping Minister, Mr. Vassilis Demetriades, served as Policy Officer at the European Commission Directorate-General Mobility and Transport, Unit D1 – Maritime transport and logistics and as Cyprus Shipping expert to the EU Maritime Commissioner, a position which he held successfully until his appointment today. It is important to note that Mr. Demetriades has worked very constructively and closely with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber in providing valuable assistance on various milestones for Cyprus Shipping, such as the approval of the Cyprus Shipping Taxation Framework by the European Commission.

Current Deputy Shipping Minister Natasa Pilides will be assuming the role of Minister of Energy, Commerce and Indrustry, as the current Minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis recently stepped down after more than seven years in office.
