On behalf of the President of the Republic Mr Nicos Anastasiades, Shipping Deputy Minister Natasa Pilidou addressed this year’s Annual General Meeting of the Cyprus Shipping Association, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the public and private sector for the further development of Cyprus Shipping. She noted that the shipping sector is an invaluable asset for Cyprus with approximately 3% of the workforce working in the wider shipping industry and the Cypriot fleet being ranked as one of the largest in the world. The Deputy Minister also underlined that Cyprus is established as an integrated maritime cluster with approximately 250 shipping companies headquartered or operating on the island.
