CSC President speaks at the Senior Maritime Conference in China


The Cyprus Shipping Chamber participated at the Senior Maritime Conference held between 2-5 December 2019, in Shanghai, China, through its President, Mr. Philippos Philis. The Conference was organised within the framework of the “Marintec China 2019” International Exhibition. “Marintec China” is considered the largest maritime event in Asia Pacific, which brings together shipping professionals from the entire shipbuilding supply chain to discuss about the latest technology and innovation of the supply industry. The Conference deliberations, attracted the interest of the Shipping Industry with high caliber speakers, senior government officials and key industry representatives from across the globe attending.

Mr. Philis gave a presentation under the section “Innovation, Intelligence and Fusion”, which focussed on developments in technology updates on major projects and trending topics in the maritime industry. Mr. Philis’ presentation was entitled: “Zero-Emissions Path: The Smart Way Forward”. During his presentation, Mr. Philis discussed how the shipping industry should approach decarbonization to meet the global levels of CO2 reduction from shipping, as outlined in the Initial Strategy of the International Maritime Organisation.
