Participation of the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Vassilios Demetriades in a High Level Conference of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) in Lisbon Thursday, June 16, 2022

Vassilios Demetriades, Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister

The Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Mr. Vassilios Demetriades, left today for Portugal on the occasion of his participation in the Conference of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) to be held at the headquarters of the Organization in Lisbon between 16 and 17 June 2022, on the occasion of the completion of 20 years of operation of the Organisation.

The conference will be greeted by European and global shipping officials such as the European Union Transport Commissioner Adina Valean, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Mr Kitack Lim, the MEP and the Chair of the European Transport and Tourism Committee Parliament, Ms Karima Delli, as well as similar Ministers from other EU Member States such as France, Greece, Poland, Latvia and Malta.

As part of his participation in the Conference entitled “Charting EMSA’s course for the next 20 years”, the Shipping Deputy Minister will take part in a round table discussion on the course and future of European shipping over the next 20 years. Mr. Demetriades is expected to address the need for a more extroverted approach to the issues and challenges faced by global shipping on which the strategic vision and the new philosophy governing Cyprus Shipping are built, focusing on further strengthening the cooperation of regulators with shipping industry.
