ASRY completes construction and delivery of two self-propelled bunker vessels to Bapco refining

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company held an official ceremony to mark the successful completion, construction and delivery of two self-propelled bunker vessels to Bapco Refining, a subsidiary of Bapco Energies. The ceremony, held on Wednesday, was attended by officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, alongside senior executives and representatives from both companies and other relevant stakeholders.

The ceremony witnessed the signing of the Protocol of Delivery by Sayed Mahmood Al Matooq, EVP Technical Services and Engineering at Bapco Refining, and Dr. Ahmed Al Abri, Chief Executive Officer of ASRY. The event also featured a video highlighting the key milestones of the project from its inception through to completion, followed by a visit to one of the vessels to view its key capabilities and operational systems.
The project represents the culmination of an integrated journey that began with the design, engineering and construction phases, followed by the launching of the two vessels and their first entry into the water. This was followed by outfitting, commissioning, technical testing, performance trials and training, leading to full operational readiness and official delivery.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Ahmed Al Abri, ASRY CEO, said: “The final delivery of the two vessels marks an important milestone in the journey of this project and demonstrates ASRY’s capability to execute and manage integrated marine construction projects across their various stages, through to operational readiness and final delivery in accordance with the approved technical and operational requirements.”

He added: “We are proud of the efforts made by our teams throughout the implementation of the project, as well as the level of cooperation and coordination with Bapco Refining and all participating parties, which contributed to the successful completion of the project and reaching this important stage.”
The successful completion of this project further strengthens ASRY’s position and capabilities in shipbuilding, alongside its longstanding expertise in ship repair and marine and industrial projects. Such achievements also contribute to the continued growth of the maritime and industrial sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
