Keysight and KTL advance NR-NTN validation for satellite connectivity

Korea Testing Laboratory selects Keysight test solutions to expand certification readiness for satellite-enabled devices and networks
Keysight Technologies, announced that Korea Testing Laboratory , a leading testing and certification organization, has selected Keysight’s New Radio Non-Terrestrial Network radio frequency and Radio Resource Management test solutions to expand its acceptance test capabilities for next-generation satellite communications technologies.
As satellite and terrestrial wireless networks converge, the industry is moving from Long-Term Evolution (LTE)-based direct-to-device services toward NR-NTN, which is expected to support broader device categories, higher-performance use cases, and expanded satellite connectivity. Device manufacturers, chipset vendors, network operators, certification laboratories, and satellite service providers need standards-based validation tools to confirm performance, interoperability, and readiness before commercial deployment. This makes reliable NR-NTN acceptance testing a critical step in scaling satellite-enabled 5G services.
Keysight’s Wireless Network Emulation Solutions enable KTL to add NR-NTN RF and RRM capabilities to its wireless validation portfolio, supporting both pre-conformance and certification activities, while providing a path to future test requirements. Recent Global Certification Forum (GCF) approvals have further expanded Keysight’s validated NR-NTN test case coverage, reinforcing its leadership in post-meeting validation counts across RF/performance and RRM as the ecosystem prepares for certification.
Building on its experience in LTE direct-to-device testing and its expanded NR-NTN validation coverage under Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and GCF programs, Keysight helps laboratories simplify adoption of new test technologies, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate ecosystem readiness for satellite-enabled devices and networks.
Song Tae-seung, Director General, S.M.A.R.T. Industry Division, KTL, said: “The establishment of this NR-NTN infrastructure is significant in that it extends the mobile communication testing and certification capabilities accumulated from 2G to 5G technology to the satellite communication sector. By working with Keysight, KTL is expanding the validation capabilities needed to help customers prepare for NR-NTN certification and commercialization with greater confidence.”
Muthu Kumaran, General Manager, Device Acceptance Solutions, Keysight, said: “NR-NTN standards are moving from specification to implementation, making trusted validation essential for the next phase of satellite connectivity. Together with KTL, Keysight is helping the wireless ecosystem accelerate certification readiness, reduce deployment risk, and bring satellite-enabled devices and services to market faster.”
