Ferretti Group secures landmark authorisation to build superyachts of up to 100 metres in Ancona

The first ZES single authorization in the Port of Ancona, secured in just 54 days, paves the way for a strategic expansion of Ferretti Group’s superyacht manufacturing capabilities.
The expansion will increase the maximum yacht-building capability from 90 to 100 metres, opening new opportunities in the upper end of the global superyacht market.
Ancona, 26 October 2026 – Ferretti Group announces a significant milestone in its industrial development with the approval of the first ZES (Special Economic Zone) single authorization in the Port of Ancona, paving the way for the expansion of its Ancona Superyacht Yard and enabling the construction of superyachts of up to 100 meters in length.
Secured in just 54 days, the authorization represents an important achievement for Ferretti Group and a powerful example of what can be accomplished when industrial ambition, institutional collaboration and speed of execution come together.
The expansion will involve one of the shipyard’s existing production facilities, extending its maximum yacht-building capability from 90 to 100 meters. Construction work is expected to take approximately six months.
The estimated initial economic impact on the local area is approximately €30 million, paving the way for further significant investments.
The importance of this expansion goes far beyond an additional ten meters. The ability to build yachts of up to 100 meters will strengthen Ferretti Group’s position in the upper end of the international superyacht market, broaden its future product development opportunities and enhance its capacity to compete for increasingly ambitious projects, where exceptional design, engineering sophistication, technological innovation and manufacturing excellence are decisive competitive advantages.
The project represents another concrete step in the Group’s ambition to strengthen its leadership in luxury yachting and establish new standards of excellence across its portfolio.
STASSI ANASTASSOV:“AMBITION, SPEED AND EXECUTION THIS IS WHAT FERRETTI GROUP MUST STAND FOR”
Stassi Anastassov, Global CEO of Ferretti Group, commented: “This is exactly what I want Ferretti Group to stand for: ambition, speed and execution. In just 54 days, we secured the authorization to take our Ancona shipyard to the next level. This is what happens when industry and institutions share the same determination to move forward. But our ambition is not simply to build bigger yachts. It is to build the world’s most desirable yachts — setting new standards in design, quality, technology and innovation. And we want to do it here, in Italy. Made in Italy is not a marketing slogan for Ferretti Group. It is our identity, our heritage and our future. Our brands are Italian, our craftsmanship is Italian, and our commitment to Italian industrial excellence is unwavering. The Ancona Superyacht Yard is a remarkable center of shipbuilding expertise, and this expansion is another step towards unlocking its full potential. I want to thank the Port System Authority, the Marche Region, the City of Ancona and the ZES authorities for their commitment and collaboration. When Italian excellence meets ambition and speed, extraordinary things become possible.”
ANCONA: A STRATEGIC INDUSTRIAL ASSET FOR THE FUTURE OF SUPERYACHT BUILDING
Covering almost 80,000 square metres, the Ancona Superyacht Yard is one of Ferretti Group’s most important industrial assets and a strategic manufacturing centre for its superyacht activities.
Its expansion will further strengthen the Group’s ability to develop and manufacture increasingly sophisticated superyachts, combining advanced engineering, innovative technologies, exceptional design and the craftsmanship that distinguishes Italian yacht building worldwide.
The extension to 100 metres is particularly significant for the Group’s long-term development. It provides greater flexibility for future projects, expands the range of opportunities Ferretti Group can pursue and reinforces its ambition to compete at the highest levels of the global luxury yachting industry.
The initiative also reflects Ferretti Group’s determination to continue investing in Italy, strengthening its industrial capabilities while supporting the specialized network of suppliers, artisans, engineers and manufacturing partners that form an essential part of the country’s luxury yacht ecosystem.
The project’s estimated economic impact on the local area and its wider industrial ecosystem is approximately €30 million, underlining the broader significance of the development for Ancona and the surrounding territory.
SPEED OF EXECUTION: A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE FOR ITALIAN INDUSTRY
The authorisation, signed on 21 October 2026 by Giosy Romano, Single Coordinator of the ZES for the Mezzogiorno, and Mirco Carloni, President of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, is the first issued under the ZES single-authorisation framework in the Port of Ancona following the extension of the measures to the Marche Region.
The process was completed in just 54 days, thanks to effective cooperation between the relevant public authorities, with the support of the Marche Regional Government, particularly Regional President Francesco Acquaroli and Regional Councillor for Industry Gino Brugaro, as well as the Municipality of Ancona.
The achievement demonstrates how streamlined administrative procedures, strong institutional cooperation and a shared commitment to industrial development can accelerate investment and reinforce Italy’s competitiveness.
For Ferretti Group, speed of execution is not simply an operational objective. It is a strategic priority in an industry where product innovation, engineering complexity, manufacturing quality and time to market increasingly determine competitive success.
The Ancona expansion is a concrete expression of this philosophy: transforming ambition into action, accelerating industrial progress and building the foundations for the next generation of Italian superyachts.
Above all, it reinforces Ferretti Group’s conviction that the future of the world’s finest yachts must continue to be designed, engineered and built in Italy.
