WinGD secures long-term service contracts covering 14 dual-fuel LNG carriers across three major shipowners

Swiss marine power company WinGD has secured three long-term service agreements covering 14 dual-fuel LNG carriers. The agreements with leading LNG ship managers demonstrate growing industry confidence in OEM-led lifetime support and mark significant progress in the expansion of WinGD’s global service business.
The agreements with COSCO Shipping LNG (Hong Kong) Ship Management, NYK LNG Shipmanagement and TMS Cardiff Gas cover vessels powered by different generations of WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel technology. The contracts reflect growing demand from owners and operators for long-term service partnerships that support vessel performance, reliability and operational efficiency throughout the engine lifecycle.
Benny Hilström VP Market Development at WinGD, said: “These agreements demonstrate the growing importance operators place on long-term lifecycle support from the original engine designer.
“LNG markets depend on timely, reliable and safe deliveries, making the performance of the vessels supporting this global trade critical. These long-term service agreements give our customers, some of the biggest names in shipping, consistent access to the expertise, maintenance and technical support needed to keep their engines performing reliably throughout their operational lives.
“More than service agreements, these partnerships help customers maximise reliability, efficiency and operational performance while navigating increasingly complex technical and regulatory requirements.”
The service package includes spare parts for scheduled maintenance, technical labour, workshop services and advisory support, alongside remote monitoring, troubleshooting and engine optimisation through WinGD’s WiDE platform.
Combining physical service with continuous digital insight enables maintenance planning and engine optimisation tailored to each vessel’s operating profile.
The latest agreements expand Global Service by WinGD’s presence across major LNG shipping markets and further strengthen the company’s growing portfolio of long-term lifecycle support contracts.
The recent contract wins include a ten-year agreement with COSCO Shipping LNG (Hong Kong) Ship Management covering six LNG carriers powered by WinGD 6X72DF engines.
WinGD has also signed a five-year service agreement with Japan’s NYK LNG Shipmanagement covering ten X-DF dual-fuel main engines across five LNG carriers. The fleet spans several generations of X-DF technology. Two vessels, built in 2022 and 2024 at HHI and SHI respectively, are powered by WinGD 5X72DF engines, while three newer vessels, built in 2025 and 2026 by HHI, are equipped with 5X72DF-2.1 engines.
In Greece, one of the world’s major shipowning and ship management markets, WinGD has signed a long-term engine service agreement covering three newbuild LNG carriers operated by Athens-based TMS Cardiff Gas Ltd. Built by HD Hyundai Samho in South Korea, the vessels are each equipped with two WinGD 5X72DF dual-fuel engines.
Carmelo Cartalemi, Head of Strategic Marketing of WinGD, said: “No one understands X-DF engines quite like the people who designed them. We’ve spent years developing these engines and working with customers to understand how they perform in service, across different vessels and operating conditions. That experience gives us a real advantage in supporting them throughout their lifetime.
“Through Global Service by WinGD, we bring together that knowledge, insights from digital monitoring and a worldwide service network to support LNG carrier operators wherever their vessels are operating. This is not an off-the-shelf service offering. Every vessel and operator has different requirements, and our understanding of the engines, their operating history and individual vessel needs allows us to anticipate challenges, inform maintenance decisions and provide targeted technical support wherever it is needed.”
Launched in 2025, Global Service by WinGD brings together more than 125 years of two-stroke engine design expertise with a worldwide network providing field service, technical support, spare parts and digital expertise. The service extends WinGD’s involvement beyond engine delivery, giving operators direct access to OEM knowledge and support throughout the operational lifecycle. The latest contract awards demonstrate the market’s growing recognition of the value of that approach.
