Nexans and Vesto partner to scale electrical cable recycling and reuse in construction

Nexans is expanding CableLoop, its electrical cable collection and recycling service, through a partnership with Vesto, a French company specializing in the reconditioning of professional equipment and the organization of reuse flows. The partnership makes it easier for construction professionals in France to return scrap cables, even in small volumes. It also lays the groundwork for a safe, traceable second life for electrical cables.
Key takeaways
- What: Nexans is extending its CableLoop circular economy offer through a partnership with Vesto.
- Where: The construction sector in France.
- Services: cable recycling (below or above 3 tons), requalification of selected cable references for reuse, and collection of small volumes of any brand.
- Framework: a technical guide to cable requalification, drafted by Nexans with the French building research body CSTB.
- Support: €50,000 from the French State via ADEME, plus backing from Valobat.
What is CableLoop and what changes with Vesto?
CableLoop is Nexans’ service for collecting and recycling electrical cables, part of a circular economy commitment that goes back nearly twenty years. With Vesto’s expertise, CableLoop now gives customers easier access to its services, more streamlined logistics and a new option: cable reuse.
Construction companies can choose from three complementary solutions:
- Cable recycling, for volumes below or above 3 tons
- Requalification for reuse, for selected cable references
- Small-volume collection, for cables of any brand, consolidated and sent to a recovery channel in France
The approach preserves resources, reduces construction site waste and strengthens local value chains over raw materials.
Why is cable reuse a technical challenge?
An electrical cable can only be given a second life if its quality, traceability and safety are guaranteed. To set that standard, Nexans has drafted a technical guide dedicated to the requalification of electrical cables, with the support of the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (CSTB), France’s scientific and technical center for the building industry.
This initiative benefits from €50,000 in support from the French State via ADEME. ADEME is France’s ecological transition agency. The initiative is also backed by Valobat, the extended producer responsibility (EPR) organization for construction products. Its aims are to help secure the supply of raw materials, reduce the carbon footprint associated with cable production and support customers’ environmental objectives.
At Nexans, we are convinced that sustainable electrification also relies on more responsible resource management. […] This partnership with Vesto allows us to go further: by exploring the conditions for safe, traceable reuse adapted to the requirements of the construction sector, we are helping to drive the circular economy forward, together with the entire ecosystem.

CEO, NEXANS
What does each partner bring?
Nexans contributes its technical mastery of cable systems and of the challenges of requalification. Vesto, through its construction-sector brand Cycle Up par Vesto, collects, reconditions and puts back on the market equipment recovered from refurbishment and deconstruction sites. It brings its know-how in reconditioning, logistics and organizing reuse flows. Together, the two companies can offer faster, more reliable access to circular services for cables.
This partnership illustrates the complementarity between the R&D strength of an industrial company and the agility of a structure like ours, an expert in reuse. […] Our ambition is to be able to capture, on a single site, a multitude of flows by leveraging synergies between our channels.
CEO, VESTO
How is the wider industry involved?
Nexans has joined the Circular Industry Coalition, a French collective of companies working to transform industrial models. Within the coalition, Nexans is helping pilot the collection and requalification of electrical cables, sharing learnings and testing operational conditions so that robust reuse channels can emerge at sector scale.
Nexans is also contributing to methodological work on how to define and calculate the environmental impact of reconditioned products, to provide reliable indicators of the benefits of circular solutions.
Through this partnership, Nexans continues to roll out its circularity strategy, with the ambition of making every stage of a cable’s life cycle a lever for resource preservation and the decarbonization of electrification.
