DEME wins contract for wind turbine installation at the Zeevonk Offshore wind farm

DEME has signed a sizable1 contract for the transportation and installation of 69 wind turbines at the Zeevonk offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. The wind turbines for phase 1 of the wind farm will be installed by DEME’s next-generation jack-up offshore transport and installation vessel, Norse Energi. This latest award follows the substantial foundation installation contract secured by DEME for Zeevonk in July 2026, giving the company a key role in this offshore wind project. The Zeevonk offshore wind farm project, jointly owned by Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners through its Energy Investment Fund I, will have a total installed capacity of approximately 1 GW.
The Zeevonk project is planned off the Dutch North Sea coast between 63 km and 84 km from the town of Bergen aan Zee. Zeevonk represents a significant step forward in the continued expansion of offshore wind capacity in the Netherlands, contributing to the country’s ambitious energy transition targets. Mobilization activities are expected to commence in 2028, with offshore operations starting shortly thereafter. Project completion is anticipated in 2029. DEME will deploy its jack-up offshore transport and installation vessel, Norse Energi.
Martin Degen, Business Unit Director WTG and O&M at DEME, commented: “Following the foundation installation award earlier this summer, this contract further expands DEME’s role in the delivery of the Zeevonk wind farm. It also demonstrates how our next-generation vessels support customers in delivering offshore wind projects safely and efficiently. More broadly, DEME’s versatile fleet and wide- ranging capabilities enable us to support multiple scopes across the offshore wind farm lifecycle, from project development through installation and commissioning. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners in delivering this landmark renewable energy project.”
The project further strengthens DEME’s position in the European offshore wind market and contributes to one of the Netherlands’ most significant ongoing offshore wind developments. The project remains subject to a final investment decision.
