Sarjak Container Lines opens Ahmedabad Office to strengthen its Western India operations

Sarjak Container Lines, part of the Saksham Group of Companies, has expanded its presence in Gujarat with the opening of a new office in Ahmedabad, which will lead SCL’s Western Region covering Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The expansion comes as Gujarat strengthens its position as one of India’s key manufacturing, engineering, automotive, chemicals, energy and export hubs. The Ahmedabad office will enable SCL to work more closely with manufacturers, exporters, EPC companies and project cargo customers across Western India, supporting their logistics requirements within India and across global markets.
Gujarat’s industrial economy is closely connected to some of India’s most important maritime gateways, including Mundra, Kandla, Hazira and Pipavav. As manufacturers and infrastructure companies scale production, exports and large-scale projects, logistics requirements are becoming increasingly complex, particularly for heavy, oversized and time-sensitive cargo.
SCL’s Ahmedabad expansion brings its project logistics expertise closer to the industrial clusters where such cargo is designed and manufactured.
Gujarat is building. And increasingly, it is shipping what it builds.
The Union Budget 2026–27 allocated a record ₹12.2 lakh crore towards capital expenditure, supporting investments across infrastructure, power, transport, ports and other sectors.
At the same time, India’s engineering and capital goods sector is increasingly connected to global markets. Engineering goods exports reached US$122.43 billion in FY2025–26, reflecting the growing scale of India’s manufacturing and engineering capabilities.
For Gujarat, this growth has direct implications for logistics. Transformers, reactors, turbine components, machinery, plant modules, girders and other industrial equipment often cannot be treated as conventional cargo. Their movement requires early planning around route surveys, equipment, lifting requirements, permits, inland transportation and port handling.
For project cargo, logistics therefore has to begin well before the cargo reaches the port.
The logistics network needs to be closer to where cargo is made
Much of India’s heavy and project cargo is designed and manufactured in industrial clusters that can be located hundreds of kilometres from the port from which it will eventually be shipped.
Gujarat is home to major manufacturing and industrial clusters across engineering, chemicals, automotive, energy and infrastructure. The state is also seeing large-scale investments in renewable energy and industrial infrastructure.
The 30 GW Khavda renewable energy park in Kutch, for instance, involves the movement of enormous quantities of equipment and components, including turbine components and transformers, to remote project locations.
For companies handling such cargo, logistics decisions made early in the project can have a significant impact on cost, timelines and execution.
SCL’s Ahmedabad office is intended to bring specialist project logistics expertise closer to these customers and enable earlier engagement in the project planning process.
Ahmedabad becomes SCL’s Western India hub
The Ahmedabad office will serve as SCL’s regional base for Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, strengthening the company’s ability to support customers across Western and Central India.
With Ahmedabad added, SCL now serves India’s north, south, east and west through its own offices in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.
The company’s international presence includes its own offices in Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, Hamburg and Houston, connecting Indian businesses to key markets across the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
SCL’s network spans 84 countries and 275 port cities, providing customers with access to teams across critical points in the global supply chain.
For Indian manufacturers and exporters, this means that the same logistics partner can support cargo from the factory in Gujarat through to its destination overseas, while also supporting equipment and project cargo moving into India.
SCL’s own presence across key global trade lanes
- Shanghai, China: Connecting with the Far East, a major source of machinery, equipment and industrial cargo entering India.
- Singapore: Serving as a strategic base for Southeast Asian trade.
- Dubai, UAE: Connecting with the Gulf’s energy, infrastructure and project markets.
- Hamburg, Germany: Providing access to Europe’s engineering and heavy-manufacturing ecosystem.
- Houston, USA: Positioned within one of the world’s major energy and heavy-industry markets.
Representatives across other key markets further extend this reach.
From the Chairman’s Desk
“In more than four decades in this industry, one lesson has held true: a shipment is usually won or lost before it reaches the port. The route, the equipment, the lifting plan, the permits and the inland move all must come together long before a vessel arrives.
That is why we have our own offices across India’s north, south, east and west, and in Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, Hamburg and Houston. We want to be in the room when our customers are designing their projects, at both ends of the voyage.
Gujarat is an important part of India’s manufacturing and industrial story. From engineering and automotive to chemicals, energy and infrastructure, the state is producing cargo that increasingly needs to move across India and around the world.
Our Ahmedabad office allows us to be closer to these customers and to support them earlier in the project lifecycle.
India is going from being a country that exports goods to one that builds and ships entire capabilities: turbines, transformers, process plants and rail systems. That calls for a different kind of logistics partner, one who understands engineering as well as freight, knows India on the ground and has its own presence in the world’s key markets.
My message to India’s manufacturers and EPC leaders is simple: treat logistics as part of your competitiveness strategy, not a cost line at the end of the project. Bring your logistics partner in early. Question the usual route, because the fastest route to site isn’t always a road; sometimes it runs along our own coastline.
The companies that plan this way will win on reliability, and reliability is what customers pay for.”

What SCL brings to customers
From Ahmedabad and across its own offices in India and overseas, SCL works with manufacturers, exporters, importers, project owners and EPC contractors.
- Project logistics for ODC/OOG, breakbulk and heavy-lift cargo
- Ocean transportation and special-equipment NVOCC operations
- Freight forwarding and customs clearance
- Rail and inland transportation, from origin to destination
These capabilities are supported by the Saksham Group’s own heavy-lift fleet, combining vessel ownership with project logistics capabilities.
With its growing Indian footprint and global network, SCL aims to support customers not simply at the point of shipment, but from the stage at which a project and its logistics requirements are being planned.
